Philbrook's Boatyard has announced the construction of purpose built, semi-custom, composite cruiser-trawlers, or passagemakers, designed to cruise not only the Pacific Northwest but the world.
Philbrook's has teamed with Tad Roberts to refine the concept of express cruiser. The "Express 58"was drawn to meet a variety of cruising interests and objectives. A traditional hull above the waterline and sheer over a more contemporary underbody provides classic good looks, seaworthiness with up to date speed capabilities. The "Express" concept is built around the proven utility of a production composites hull, combined with custom deck, superstructure, and interior layouts.
The "Express" will typically provide 30 knot performance. Accommodation will depend on the specific requirements of each owner. For example, the layout shown below will very comfortably accommodate a couple and up to two crew members. Alternative layouts provide accommodation for as many as 3 couples. Alternative layout options include a bow cockpit, double size bunks, alternative power plants, and split galley layouts.
The semi custom approach to building enables Philbrook's to produce unique yachts in approximately ½ the time required for a similar custom, one-off vessel and at approximately 2/3 the cost of a similar custom vessel
